Justification

Kingdom of Ash by Sara J. Maas is the last installment in the Throne of Glass series. I had previously read the first six books in this series years ago. The first novel in the series was reviewed by Booklist, Bulletin of the Center for Children’s Books, Kirkus Reviews, School Library Journal, Voice of Youth Advocates and was a starred book on Library Media Connection and Publishers Weekly. The Series is a #1 New York Times best seller.

Response

Having read the first six books in this series, and loving them all, I had high expectations for the seventh and final book. Sara J. Maas did not disappoint. Not only is Fantasy my favorite genre, Maas is my favorite author. (a) I have come to really connect with the characters in the Throne of Glass series. The main character is a strong female who struggles through life-altering set-backs and disappointments. Over and over again the main character is brought low and manages to climb her way back up. This is how my life has always felt. While I might not be fighting demons from other-worldly realms, I do fight my own personal demons. The strength of the characters in Kingdom of Ash is inspiring. (b) In this book the imaginary world of Erilea is portrayed as somewhat broken, harsh and difficult, but with hard work and hope, beauty and peace can be found. I feel this is a true portrayal of the real world we live in now. (f) While reading Kingdom of Ash I was swept up in the battle of good and evil, l lived through heartbreak and hope with the characters, I wept when they did and smiled as they would have. It was a thrilling read that kept me on my toes for the entire time. It was truly a work of art.

Conclusion

Kingdom of Ash and all the books in the Throne of Glass series are exciting reads. I could read them again and again and be just as happy each time. Fans of the fantasy genre will be pulled into grand world-building, character development and a racing plot. This book is recommended for all libraries for teenagers and adults alike.
